Which Mods Will Give You The Best Performance Increases?
If you want your vehicle to reach its absolute potential, then you will need to modify it. While factory specifications aren’t bad, they can certainly be improved if you are looking for more performance. Performance modifications can improve a wide variety of different aspects of a vehicle. Some will improve the handling of a vehicle as it takes that tight corner. Some improvements provide some extra power to add to passing speeds or off the line. Oftentimes people forget about the transmission and how important it is to transmitting that power the engine produces into actual movement. Many of these modifications can be performed on your own with time, effort and parts. Some may be more complicated and probably should be completed at a garage. If you’re interested in modifying your vehicle, consider some of these great mods.
1 - Performance Tires
This is one of the easiest mods that can be completed. General stock tires aren’t particularly impressive and leave a lot of handling on the table. Getting a set of performance tires will be noticeable immediately upon driving with them. R-Comp tires will make a huge difference. Now, you’ll need to get the tires put on a set of wheels/rims at a shop unless you have the machine purchases for your home garage. It’ll be handled quick and you’ll be back on the road in an hour or so. There’s a downside to performance tires however. Softer compounds for better handling do wear out quicker. They also decrease mileage as they stick to the road and cause additional friction.

2 - Performance Brakes
A corollary to going quickly is being able to brake in a shorter amount of time. Performance brakes will stop you from faster speeds safely and quickly. They also allow you to drive with precision and belief in corners. Installing a set of carbon fiber discs is one way to improve performance. A simple way that’s often overlooked is just installing performance brake pads. These will better spread out heat and stop cars more easily.
3 - Throttle Response
This is less of a mod and more of a quick fix. The throttle response is responsible for telling the engine to move once you put your foot on the gas. Quick response is quite simply more fun! This mod is something best done in order vehicles with actual physical throttle linkages. You just adjust the slack in the cable and voila! Modern vehicles use an electronic control unit. These need to be adjusted through a computerized linkage. This can be altered and moved by mechanics once they connect to the ECU.
4 - Exhaust
A lot of people ignore the concept of an exhaust upgrade. They feel it won’t really improve the power of their vehicle. The truth is that an exhaust upgrade is a simple mod with surprisingly good benefits. An exhaust will improve the efficiency of an engine as well as the fuel efficiency. A better exhaust system is often required when you add in a cold air intake to improve performance as well.
5 - Performance Suspension
While suspension systems are easy to understand, they are difficult to master. Complex performance suspensions can be tricky to set up, but have huge benefits once they are. Aftermarket suspensions are good because they are tailored to your driving style. Many modern suspensions are adjustable once they are installed. This means that you don’t always need to sacrifice comfort. You can drive to a nearby racetrack, press a button and switch to race mode, then switch back for a simple drive home.
