Check Out the Top 5 Dodge Models on the Market Today!

The entire automotive industry has been tending toward boring vehicles that have great fuel efficiency. It’s understandable. Vehicles and the world itself is getting more green and efficient. Despite this trend, Dodge continues to put out vehicles which may be lagging a little bit behind in those areas. Why? Because their vehicles are fun! Big engines and loads of power make Dodge a brand that has its own identity.

While the world will have to wait until 2020 for the new Dodge Viper to return, their 2019 offerings are still excellent vehicles. Not all Dodge vehicles are excuses to step on the accelerator. Their family haulers offer some of the best value in their classes! Check out 5 of the best models Dodge have to offer.

1 - Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is the perfect vehicle for someone who grew up driving mustangs, but now needs to start converting to adult life. While the standard V6 is impressive, the optional Hemi V8 is something else. 485 horsepower in a four door sedan costing under $50,000 is not something you hear very often. The styling of the Charger is hit or miss for some people. The one descriptor that’s most often used is “bold”. Considering it’s a muscle car hiding in the clothes of a four door sedan, bold is probably a good choice of wording for the Charger.

2 - Dodge Grand Caravan

Getting the #2 spot on this list may be a bit of a lifetime achievement award for the Grand Caravan. Dodge had considered scrapping it after 2018, but just couldn't do it! The Grand Caravan doesn’t have a lot of the features of many of the newer more technological minivans on the market. The Chrysler Pacifica for example is loaded with every feature you can think of. However, that’s also another $10,000 to $20,000 more! That’s the big attraction to the modern Grand Caravan. It’s about frugality! The 283 horsepower V6 isn’t a world beater of a motor, but it gets the job done! Fuel economy is lower than some competitors as well due to the older design of the engine. However, if you’re just hauling a big family to and from destinations, the Grand Caravan will let you spend your money elsewhere and is up to the task!

3 - Dodge Challenger

The Challenger shows that the muscle car is still alive and well! If you’re sticking to the sane Challenger models, then an optional 485 horsepower V8 can provide some blistering speed. Ignore the stats on the Hellcat and Demon. Quite simply, 717 and 840 horsepower from them is arguably too much! 2019 has given people the option to pick up a rear wheel drive model in the GT. This used to only be all wheel drive versions, so purists can get the rear wheel drive that so many of them clamor for. Another benefit to the Challengers is that options are plentiful and typically well priced. The Challenger may not be the most nimble in a corner, but it’s a demon in a straight line!

4 - Dodge Durango

Not many three row SUVs are thought of as fun to drive. The number of seats and the weight required to house that many people takes a lot of sportiness out of vehicles. The Durango has an option 360 horsepower V-8 that can also be found in the Challenger or Charger. This gives plenty of power and a pretty impressive 0-60mph time of only 6.2 seconds! Big engines do come with a compromise however. The Durango guzzles fuel with the best of them and is rated at 22 mpg. Inside, the vehicle looks good, but definitely could use some more cargo room when the third row of seats is engaged. The Durango is a good SUV for people who aren’t quite ready to give up on their muscle car roots.

5 - Dodge Journey

For people looking for an economic crossover/SUV offering, the Dodge Journey is something they can get interested in. The starting price is very competitive, with a base model coming in under $25,000. It’s got plenty of space inside for storage and it has a good infotainment to keep the kids happy. Base models run a simple four cylinder engine paired to a four speed automatic transmission. This combination is about as slow as it sounds, but it’s understandable in a budget model. A V-6 is available as an option to give it a bit more pep. Handling is a bit like piloting a barge and there’s plenty of roll in sharper corners. Essentially, the Journey is a basic and practical vehicle with plenty of room for a family. It can get the job done, but there are some better options available as well.
