2019 Jeep Models Combine Dependability and Toughness
Jeep has forever been a brand that’s been known for their toughness. Jeep’s are supposed to be able to eat up the off road trails, while still providing a modicum of comfort while hitting up the interstate. Despite seeing Jeep become more refined over the years, they refuse to sacrifice their roots.
Jeep in 2019 mixes fun, dependable vehicles, toughness and a nice touch of luxury in the right places. Jeep is also going to be increasing their exciting vehicles in 2020 with the introduction of the first Jeep pickup truck in decades (The Gladiator). But before we get to the 2020 model year, let's take a minute to look at the 2019 Jeep lineup and see what they have going on. All specs are for the 2019 model unless unavailable, in which case 2018 or 2020 information was used.
Jeep Cherokee
Specifications: $26,540+ - 25 mpg - 270 hp
Review: The Jeep Cherokee is one of the few compact SUVs or crossovers that knows its way around the wilderness. When it’s on the road, the Cherokee features a really comfortable ride and handles well. The 270 horsepower engine is solid, but it doesn’t exactly provide incredible fuel economy. The cabin isn’t quite as big as some other competitors, but it is well appointed and uses quality materials inside.

Jeep Compass
Specifications: $23,590+ - 29 mpg - 180 hp
Review: The Compass certainly has one thing going for it. It’s a good looking vehicle! It clearly has been heavily influenced by the Grand Cherokee, but that’s not a bad thing. The Compass very narrowly fits in the company SUV market between the Renegade and the Cherokee. It’s loaded with technology like automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. THe only downsides to the vehicle are the poor 9 speed transmission and the brakes are a bit uncomfortable.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Specifications: $28,690+ - 25 mpg - 295 hp
Review: Depending on the version of the Grand Cherokee you’re looking at, engine power can rise incredibly rapidly. The Grand Cherokee is the flagship of the Jeep line and has an incredible luxury line. The interior is well appointed and incredibly comfortable. All the safety options you could want are available like automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Trim levels increase in price quickly, but the Limited version at $40,440 and Trailhawk at $45,540 still provide a lot of vehicle for the price!
Jeep Renegade
Specifications: $23,520+ - 30 mpg - 180 hp

Review: The Renegade may feature the unique Jeep grill design, but it’s otherwise got some distinctive style to any other Jeep. The Renegade is an affordable Jeep offering, yet still can tackle the trails like the more expensive options. The renegade gets some solid, if unspectacular fuel economy. Many of its competitors are doing better. However, it’s certainly a plodder. As long as you don’t need speed, the Renegade can be a great choice for you.
Jeep Wrangler
Specifications: $29,540+ - 24 mpg - 285 hp
Review: If there’s one vehicle that’s synonymous with enjoying the outdoors, it’s the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler has been the go to option for serious off roaders, surfers and campers for decades. The modern Wrangler has a lot to like. It maintains that comfortable upright driving position, but the interior is otherwise modernized. This is a good example of the entire Wrangler. The outside retains the classic look, while the engine and safety features are modern. The downside to the Wrangler is that it’s a bit expensive for what it is. People who love it are willing to pay the extra for that Wrangler feeling.
